Matter
Material Designer
Overview
Node-based procedural texture editor for creating PBR materials with real-time 3D preview.
Matter is a procedural material designer that lets you create PBR textures using a visual node graph. Connect noise generators, color inputs, blend modes, and filters to produce Base Color, Roughness, Metallic, Normal, Height, and AO maps. Preview your materials in real-time on a 3D sphere with full PBR rendering.
Matter is free to use — no backing, no subscription.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does Matter actually produce?
A material: the set of PBR maps a renderer needs — base colour, roughness, metallic, normal, height and ambient occlusion — generated from a node graph rather than painted.
Why a node graph instead of painting?
Because a procedural material is resolution-independent and re-editable. Change one noise parameter and every map regenerates, instead of repainting a texture you had already flattened.
Can I see it on a real object?
A real-time 3D preview shows the material on a sphere as you edit, alongside a 2D view of whichever channel you are working on.
Can I take a material elsewhere?
Graphs export and import as JSON, and the generated maps are ordinary images usable in any engine. Inside aukimi they go straight to Render, Pigment and Engine.
Is it as capable as a desktop material tool?
Not yet — Matter is the youngest module here, with eight node types covering noise, gradients, blending, levels, blur and normal generation. It is honest work for a start, and it is not Substance Designer.
Where are my graphs kept?
In your account, saved to the cloud, so a material built on one machine is available on the next one you sign in from.
